Stay Ahead: July 2026 DSP & UGC Platform Updates

Each month, we round up the most important updates across DSPs and UGC platforms and what they mean for artists, labels, and music teams.

This month, Spotify expands its music video tools, Instagram makes published posts more flexible, TIDAL introduces a new policy for AI-generated music, and Beatport brings artist and label tools together in Greenroom.

Here’s what you need to know.

Spotify: Music Video Pitching and Charts

What’s New

Spotify is expanding its music video offering with a new Video Pitching Tool, currently in beta, allowing eligible artists to pitch official music videos and performance videos directly to Spotify’s editorial team.

Spotify has also introduced Music Video Charts Global, ranking the 50 most-streamed music videos globally each day.

According to Spotify, fans who watch a music video in full are 64% more likely to stream that song again in the following three weeks and go on to play 57% more from that artist.

What to Do

  • If you have access to video pitching in Spotify for Artists, build it into your release campaign alongside your track pitch.
  • Consider official videos and performance videos as part of your wider Spotify release strategy.
  • Check Spotify for Artists to see which video tools are available to your account.

Instagram: Replace Audio on Published Posts

What's New

Instagram's new Replace Audio feature allows users to change the music attached to an existing feed post or carousel without deleting and reposting it.

Crucially, the post keeps its existing likes, comments, shares, and reach.

What to Do

For artists and music teams, this gives you more flexibility to update music on existing content without losing the engagement it has already generated.

It can be useful for correcting audio, refreshing evergreen content, or aligning an existing post with a current campaign.

TIDAL: New Policy for AI-Generated Music

What’s New

TIDAL has introduced a new policy for wholly AI-generated music.

Music identified by TIDAL as entirely AI-generated will not be eligible for royalties. TIDAL is also introducing automated measures to identify and remove AI-generated releases that impersonate real artists or facilitate fraudulent activity.

Importantly, the policy distinguishes wholly AI-generated music from music created by people using AI as part of the creative process.

What to Do

Maintain accurate artist identities, credits, rights information, and metadata, particularly when AI tools have been used during the creative process.
