YouTube’s New Collaborations Feature: What You Need to Know

YouTube has launched a new collaboration feature that allows up to five creators to appear on the same video — with their channels credited directly below the player, along with Subscribe buttons.

For labels and artists releasing collaborative tracks, it’s especially useful. Whether you’re rolling out a featured artist single, a joint-label release, or a visual collab, this is a simple way to ensure everyone gets credited — and drives subscribers to each channel.

Here’s a quick rundown on how to use it.

What the Collaboration Feature Does

With YouTube’s new collaboration option, you can:

  • Add up to five channels to a single video as official collaborators.
  • Display each collaborator’s name, avatar, and Subscribe button below the video.
  • Push the video to the subscriber feeds of all collaborators once accepted.
  • Share video analytics with collaborators through YouTube Studio.
  • Apply it to longform videos, Shorts, Premieres, and archived livestreams.

Note: The video must be uploaded by one channel. That channel retains full control over monetization. Revenue is not shared between collaborators.

Why It Matters for Labels and Artists

1. Share Visibility Across Fanbases

When multiple artists, labels, or contributors are involved in a release, this lets everyone show up. The video appears in multiple subscriber feeds, expanding its reach without relying on reposts or duplicate uploads.

2. Grow Your Subscriber Base

Each credited channel gets a Subscribe button in the video interface. Smaller channels benefit from visibility alongside larger ones. It’s a low-lift way to grow your audience around a shared release.

3. Credit Collaborators Properly

You no longer have to choose between hosting the video on the main artist’s or the label’s channel. You can credit featured artists, producers, visual collaborators, and partner labels directly — the way it should be.

4. Share Access to Video Performance

Once accepted, collaborators can access the video’s analytics in their own YouTube Studio. No more chasing screenshots — everyone can see how the release is performing, including views, watch time, and audience insights.

How to Use the Feature

You can add collaborators during upload or by editing an existing video.

During Upload

  1. Go to YouTube Studio
  2. Click Create → Upload Videos
  3. Choose your video file
  4. In the Details tab, scroll to Audience → Show More
  5. Find the Collaboration section and click Invite a collaborator
  6. Search by channel handle (e.g., @artistname)
  7. Send the invite. The collaborator will appear once they accept.
