Empowering Artists with Intention, Integrity, and Innovation
At Revelator, we’re lucky to work with some of the most creative and driven teams shaping the future of independent music. In this month’s Partner Spotlight, we’re thrilled to highlight our partnership with Boost Collective - a Toronto-based music promotion and distribution company that’s making serious waves in the DIY artist space. What started as two friends experimenting with music software has evolved into a full-fledged creative powerhouse helping thousands of artists reach their desired audience.
From Bedroom Beats to Business Brilliance
Boost Collective was founded by Ronan Mullins and Damian Barbu, while tinkering with FL Studio and Ableton dreaming of EDM stardom. The founders quickly realized that whilst they enjoyed crafting their own music, it was the marketing and promotions that really ignited their passions; and made the most of their personal skillsets.
“We fell down the rabbit hole of music promotion - ads, playlists, strategy,” they shared. “And once we started helping other artists, we realized, ‘Hey, this is actually where our talent lies.’”
That initial curiosity grew into a company. Boost Collective began offering promo packages, honing their creative strategy, and building out a team. Today, they’re a growing global company with 15–20 employees, a headquarters in Toronto, and a bold mission: To empower artists with smarter, faster, and more impactful music promotion tools that accelerate their growth and scale.
Building Artist Worlds, Not Just Plays
While many in the space focus on data, Boost Collective takes a more holistic approach.
“We’re obsessed with creating moments around songs,” Ronan told us. “That means crafting content with intention, building artist identity, and creating a narrative around a release. Promotion isn't just about reach - it's about resonance.”
But make no mistake - Boost Collective is data-driven to the core. Whether it’s optimizing ad spend, refining creative for better conversion, or tracking skip rates and playthroughs, their backend is as sophisticated as their branding.
“There’s definitely a rush in seeing something you built actually perform - and knowing you did it cost-effectively.”, said Ronan.
Meeting the Challenges of Scale
Boost Collective works with thousands of artists a month. That kind of scale brings with it an entirely different kind of challenge: quality control.
“The bar for finished, polished music is higher than ever,” Ronan explained. “We run into a lot of tracks that just aren’t quite there yet. That’s where expectation management becomes key. A great campaign is limited in how far it can go if the music doesn’t meet the standard.”
That honesty has become a core part of their ethos. “We’re here to help - but we also know when a track isn’t ready. It’s super important that artists spend the time honing their craft, and that includes high-quality music production, vocals, and writing. Some clients aren’t used to hearing that, but we’ve learned it’s better to be real from the start.”
